| Stone Jack Jones is a writer and artist of such subtle yet encompassing magnitude that his genre bending mix of music is instantly recognizable, yet indefinable. Stone Jack Jones has a rich history in music, and his varied and sordid past reads like a novel that only adds to his music's appeal. | | | Originally from a West Virginia coal mining family, at 18 he began wandering, working the city streets and bars as a fiddler, and often living in abandoned buildings.
Music has always been the driving force for Stone Jack Jones. He has lived under many names and played many types of music, ranging from Appalachian fiddle music, to punk, to medieval. His record NARCOTIC LOLLIPOP is the debut release of Fictitious Records, and it blends all of his past into a style that defies categorization.
Stone Jack Jones has written an album chock full of emotion and trance inducing sounds. In an effort to move music away from being a product, he's created an album with incredible vibe, where mood opens doors to consciousness and takes listeners on a seductive trip.
The record is a close collaboration with famed indie producer Roger Moutenot (Yo La Tengo, Sleater Kinney, Lou Reed) who helped create the raw, ethereal sound. Singer Patty Griffin is featured on the fourth track, "Taj Mahal." NARCOTIC LOLLIPOP is minimal, yet complex in its layered simplicity. Playfully created and deeply engaging, it is without a doubt an album for the moment. |
